Qatar’s BlackBerry users will be the first to watch latest Potter movie

DOHA: BlackBerry users in Qatar were the first to watch the blockbuster movie “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” courtesy of Research In Motion (RIM).

Throughout July, RIM has offered all BlackBerry smartphone owners the chance to “See a Blockbuster with BlackBerry,” as part of a special promotion. On Wednesday night, the special presentation was the much-awaited final part of the “Harry Potter” series, and fans appeared in large crowds to see the exclusive free screening.

Any BlackBerry smartphone owner, regardless of carrier, can collect two free vouchers from booths in Villaggio and City Center shopping malls and exchange them for tickets to special screenings on Wednesday and Monday nights.

Earlier in the day, fans were alerted about the choice of film through the special BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) group set-up for the promotion, and the response was extremely enthusiastic.

“See a Blockbuster with BlackBerry” runs throughout July and customers are advised to collect tickets from the dedicated kiosks as early as possible. Blockbuster tickets are distributed to BlackBerry smartphone owners when they display the device and their unique BlackBerry PIN code. Globally, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” is set to be one of the most popular films of the year, with thousands queuing up for special midnight screenings on Wednesday, and millions of advance tickets already sold.
